Welcome to the 2011 Arts Exposed
York Region Arts & Culture Conference
It is an exciting time to be part of the arts and culture scene in York Region. Arts and culture is thriving in each of York Region's nine municipalities, as evidenced by the wealth of established as well as emerging performing arts venues, artists, arts organizations, arts businesses, festivals and events. The region's population is one of the fastest growing and most diversified in all of Canada, generating increased demand for our arts and cultural assets while fueling sector growth and new opportunities.
Arts Exposed is the first event of its type in York Region to bring cultural stakeholders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors together to examine and discuss arts and culture related issues while co-creating strategies for local cultural tourism and capacity development. The conference's inaugural theme Arts Exposed is a celebration, recognition and appreciation of all the known and lesser known cultural treasures in York Region.
Arts Exposed is about:
- Facilitating the exchange of information and identifying opportunities to advance arts and culture in York Region.
- Reinforcing the importance of cultural investment and planning to sustainable communities.
- Cultivating new, cross-regional relationships and partnerships.
- Supporting artists and arts organizations in the business of the arts through practical seminars and resources.
